Av's Moves Empty Av's Moves

Post  Colorado Avalanche Thu Nov 05, 2009 6:38 pm

The Colorado Avalanche have been busy these last couple weeks. They have a potential 4 deals in place with 1 major one already happening.

Last week the NYR and the Av's hooked up for an interesting trade. GM Chris has not been shy about his love for Evgeny Grachev, and so it only makes sense that is first move is to get the Emms Family Award as the OHL rookie of the Year (40g, 40a) and big kid from Khabarovsk Russia. Standing 6'3, 211lbs he will eventually be playing alongside the Battalion Alumni Line. Wolski, Duchene, Grachev. GM Chris was more than happy about getting Grachev. "It was my 1 main goal heading into the season. Grachev was my favourite player last year and was followed by the great Matt Duchene. These kids are dynamic and played amazing together with the Battalion".

When Matt heard of the news he had this to say, "Grachev??? A Av???? This is awesome, I can't believe Chris was able to get him here. I wonder what it cost to get him here?"

The answer. 18yr old sensation Ryan O'Reilly, and a 2nd rounder. Yes, the Av's paid a lot for Grachev, but for him to be able to suit up with his junior Centerman, and being short on wingers, the move just made sense all round for the Av's. The Avalanche wish nothing but success for O'reilly and hope he doesn't end up back in OZ.

We have made a couple other moves, but nothing that gets me as excited as getting Grachev. We were once short in the wings and how we have a future #1 winger in Grachev.

I would like to extend a note to the GM of the Rangers. Working with you was easy and we worked out a fair deal for both teams, and anytime you want to make a deal I will be more than willing.

Keep your eyes on your mailbox as I surely will be looking to make a deal with many of you.
